Apply for this role

Ensure the precision behind the next generation of life-science breakthroughs.

Biotech is moving faster than ever, but even a small bug in a lab platform can corrupt months of expensive biological research. Lab Thread exists to change that. We’re building a next-generation LIMS/ELN platform where quality is a core engineering principle, not an afterthought. To get there, we need a QA Engineer who doesn’t just find bugs, but designs the testing frameworks that ensure scientific progress never stops.

QUALITY WITH REAL-WORLD CONSEQUENCES

Lab Thread is an engineering-driven biotech SaaS company founded in 2023. We are the digital nervous system for modern small and mid-sized laboratories — software that enables scientists to design DNA sequences, track experiments, and accelerate discoveries.

Here, the impact of your work is tangible: a bug that slips through isn’t just a support ticket — it’s a failed experiment, corrupted data, or lost months of research.

MODERN TOOLS FOR MODERN TESTING

Selenium · Cypress · Playwright · Postman · Insomnia · SoapUI · Jira · JMeter · JavaScript · CI/CD · Git

We embed quality into every stage of the development lifecycle. No legacy burden, no inherited debt, no corporate bureaucracy — just real engineering decisions.

EMBEDDING QUALITY, NOT JUST FINDING BUGS

This is not a checkbox role. You will:

  • Participate in Scrum meetings to define clear, testable acceptance criteria before a single line of code is written.
  • Own the testing strategy end-to-end — from manual exploratory testing of new features to building a robust automated regression suite.
  • Champion a shift-left, quality-first mindset — collaborating directly with developers during the design phase, not just at the end of a sprint.
  • Detect, document, and track bugs with clarity — translating complex technical issues into understandable business risk.
  • Work in a hybrid, flexible model built on trust, focus, and deep work.

THE ANALYTICAL GUARDIAN WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You’re an engineer who spots the inconsistencies everyone else misses, and builds the systems that prevent them from recurring.

  • 3+ years in QA roles with a strong mix of manual precision and automation expertise.
  • Strong hands-on experience with test automation frameworks — Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Solid API testing skills across Postman, Insomnia, and SoapUI.
  • Comfortable with JavaScript and familiar with API architectures and CI/CD environments.
  • Fluent in English and Bulgarian — able to translate a complex bug into a clear business risk for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with scientific or biotech software.
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and pipeline-integrated testing.

YOUR ROADMAP TO SUCCESS

In 30 days: You’ve mastered the Lab Thread domain, executed your first manual test cycles, and identified the highest-priority areas for automation.

In 6 months: You’ve built a stable automated testing framework for our core APIs and web platform, significantly reducing manual regression time.

In 1 year: You’ve established the Lab Thread quality standard — a comprehensive testing ecosystem that allows us to ship high-stakes features with total confidence.

WHY LAB THREAD

  • Impact: The quality you ensure directly supports cancer research, gene therapy, and drug development — not abstract KPIs.
  • Autonomy: A small, senior team where your insights genuinely drive the product’s direction.
  • Growth: Clear path to broader responsibilities in quality strategy and technical leadership.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary + merit-based stock options for team members who drive outsized impact.
  • Flexibility: Hybrid work and flexible hours focused on output, not office hours.
  • Access: Direct collaboration with founders and decision-makers from day one.

Ready to build the quality layer whose impact you measure in discoveries, not bug counts? Send your CV — we’d love to talk.
